Picking a suburb? Too quiet?

I'm considering a move to Leeds and visited today to get a sense of the city and places to live. I was really surprised with the suburbs?

I visited Chapel Allerton, Horsforth, Meadwood, Far Headingly, and Kirkstall. While they felt safe and looked nice, I was really surprised at how quiet they were and little there seemed to be in terms of bars/cafes/resturants.

Having lived in Manchester for a few years perhaps I've just been spoilt with being in more bustling neighbourhoods (Chorlton/Didsbury) but wanted to check I hadn't missed something? It may well be that this is the character of Leeds and I need to adjust expectations!

For context I'm a 30 year old and single, ideally looking to be around others of a similar age.

EDIT: To clarify, this is genuinely not a dig - I'm just trying to make sure my expectations are grounded or if there's other places I should be looking to live.
